About Us

Rooted in the peaks, building tomorrow's leaders.

The Himalayan People's Empowerment Association (HPEA) is a non-profit grassroots organization based in Kumharsain, Himachal Pradesh. Since 1982 we have worked side-by-side with mountain communities to unlock opportunity for the next generation.

Our work spans education, sustainable horticulture, digital literacy, and community leadership. We believe the youth of the Himalayas are the guardians of its future — and our role is to give them the tools, training, and confidence to lead.

Mission

To foster leadership, vocational excellence, and community stewardship among Himalayan youth.

Vision

Mountain villages where every young person has the opportunity, education, and confidence to thrive.

Approach

Grassroots, community-led programs designed with — not for — the people we serve.
